RDD Retail Sales Representative

Non-exempt position

OVERVIEW:

The RDD Retail Sales Representative is responsible for delivering high-quality sales and merchandising coverage that drives growth for RDD’s client-manufacturers across assigned retail-partner stores. In this role, you will execute merchandising standards, build strong partnerships with retailers, analyze opportunities, and ensure our clients’ products are visible, available, and well-represented at retail. You will leverage technology, follow a structured store call process, and support key initiatives to help maximize sales and distribution.

CORE ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain strong, respectful relationships with store and department managers to effectively advocate for clients, support impactful sales and merchandising initiatives, and enhance product visibility and performance.
  • Plan each store call in advance, adhere to assigned itineraries and scheduled hours, and collaborate with your supervisor on territory planning.
  • Cut in, track, and maintain item authorizations to ensure proper product placement and availability.
  • Ensure RDD brands win the “first moment of truth” by maintaining strong shelf presence—including stocking, rotating for freshness, tagging, and maintaining compliant displays.
  • Execute merchandising initiatives, participate in client-sponsored contests, and document results accurately.
  • Track and report performance on new item cut-ins, POS placement, secondary displays, and all distribution orders.
  • Identify sales opportunities, provide store-level insights, and communicate competitive activity, store-level issues, and client concerns to RDD leadership.
  • Utilize RDD technology systems and tools—including Go Spot Check and company-provided devices—to collect data, complete audits, and report visits.
  • Support special projects or additional merchandising needs as assigned.
  • All duties may not be listed. RDD has the right to revise job duties on an as-needed basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate, 5 years’ experience in retail sales or merchandising (refrigerated products experience a plus)
  • Competency with MS Windows software suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and comfort using a tablet for reporting
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; comfortable and effective in presentation and selling environments.
  • Effective collaborator and contributor functioning in a team environment
  • Self-motivating, engaging, high-energy, reliable and results-oriented with the ability to work independently
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and timelines
  • Professional appearance, positive attitude, and ability to thrive in a dynamic, customer-focused retail environment
  • Physically able to perform merchandising activities in a refrigerated store setting, including moving products (3–30 lbs) from cart to shelf with or without accommodation.
